It looks like scientists have found two different kinds of bacteria that can help battle oil spills. The names of these bacterial are Alcanivorax borkumensis and Oleispira antarctica. All before, chemicals have been used to break down the oil, but with these new bacterial, cleaning up and oil spill can be a lot more quick and safe. The interesting thing about this, however, is that these bacterial have been around for millions of years! Why didn't anyone think of this before? Here's a link to the real article:
