Save the Lions!

The lion population in Uganda has decreased 30% in the last 10 years. The main cause of this dramatic change are humans! Humans have been putting certain toxins in cattle that the lions eat and have also been killing these poor creatures for eating their livestock. The Rise of the Country of the Earthworms

Earthworms are invading New England! In fact, these earthworms have been listed as an invasive species in England. Because of earthworms, the forests and the soil are being harmed. Fishies Need Love Too!

Freshwater biodiversities have been completely overlooked when thinking of the impact of land development. Some of the problems that were brought up were increased run off, downstream flooding, and pollution. Sebastian Martinuzzi, a doctoral researcher claims they aare thinking of every possible danger that could be caused to these underwater biodiversities, and are taking them into consideration. The World's Oceans are in Trouble!

A new study done this year shows that the oceans of the world are in dire need of help! The study shows that by the year 2100, our oceans will be hit with a number of stressors. The study also shows that green house gas emissions is one of the main causes of this. 800 million people use the ocean for daily survival and if we don't fix the problem, 2 billion people will be effected! A New Dragon Tree Species is Found!

A new Dragon tree species called the Dracaena kaweesakii has been found. This tree species is apart of the Dracaena group and is supposed to be good luck for Thai people. It has hundreds of branches with white leaf sheaths. Its main threat of destruction has been the cutting down of its habitat in order to get limestone. Is Hurricane Sandy around the corner?

Hurrican Sandy was an extreme hurricane that hit parts of New York and New Jersey earlier this year. This hurricane caused tons of flooding and damaged many homes in the areas it hit. Now, Andrew Kemp, a geologist at Tufts University, claims Sandy may be coming back. He claims rising sea levels caused by things such as climate change will be the cause of Sandy's return. Can Bacteria Combat Oil Spill Disasters?

It looks like scientists have found two different kinds of bacteria that can help battle oil spills. The names of these bacterial are Alcanivorax borkumensis and Oleispira antarctica. All before, chemicals have been used to break down the oil, but with these new bacterial, cleaning up and oil spill can be a lot more quick and safe.
